The Joy Luck Club is a novel that focuses on the lives of four immigrant chinese women and
the struggles they encounter during thier lives in wartorn imperial China, and in their new lives in America which they find
is just as ridden with problems.
The novel also focuses on the daughters of the four women, which live their lives
in America, and find out that they too have problems. The daughters either have conflicts with their mothers, which
are seperated from them through a whole different culture. Some of the daughters also have marital problems as well.
In the end the daughters finally realize that all the mothers wanted was for them to have better lives than they did.
